The Hadith collections of al-Bukhari and Muslim are treated by Sunni Islam as second only to the Qur’an. But behind the illusion of divine authentication lies a process rife with late compilation, human filtering, political shaping, and internal contradictions. This post exposes how a handful of men in the 9th century built the theological infrastructure that now governs 1.8 billion Muslims—without Qur’anic sanction and often in contradiction to it.

Qur’an (6:114–115): “Shall I seek other than God as a source of law, when He has sent down to you the Book fully detailed?”

The Qur’an never authorizes a second body of legal revelation. Instead, it warns against other "hadiths" as distractions from God's word. This makes the entire hadith enterprise extraneous at best, and subversive at worst.
